Asian restaurant
At Gigi Sushi we try to present our customers from Adliswil and Thalwil with the atmosphere of a typical Asian restaurant.
There are several different styles here (Japanese, Chinese, Thai and others). Nevertheless, an Asian restaurant is generally very simple and plainly furnished. It thrives on the cheerfulness and lively conversation of its customers.
For customers from Pfäffikon, Au, Hirzel, Horgen, Horgenberg, Richterwil, Samstagern and Wädenswil who do not eat our dishes in our restaurant, but prefer to enjoy their Asian food at home and use the delivery service, we would like to tell you a little about the facilities in Asia.
Restaurants in Japan: furnished with natural raw materials
In Asia, emphasis is placed on using natural raw materials such as paper, bamboo, straw or wood. In Japan, for example, the focus is on furnishings that convey relaxation and tranquillity to visitors. This allows restaurant visitors to take a short break from everyday life. They can rebalance body and mind with delicious Asian food, such as the famous sushi.
Japan: Zen-style purism
This Japanese style of furnishing is based on the Zen style. In addition to purism, the clear division of space is also a feature of the furnishings. Everything superfluous is left out. The typical white walls and simple wooden furniture show a clear line. Nevertheless, the Japanese attach great importance to beautiful decoration, which they use very selectively. The most common decorative objects are paper lanterns, stones, green plants or cherry blossoms and orchids.
The Japanese sit on the floor to eat
In Japan, food is not eaten at an ordinary dining table, but instead you sit on a mat on the floor and eat at tables close to the floor. Either the comfortable mats or additional cushions ensure comfort. In Europe, however, it is more common for Japanese restaurants to use European furniture.
Restaurants in China: clear forms and colorful style
Chinese restaurants (and homes) are also very simply furnished and straightforward. However, not as minimalist as in Japan. Strong colors dominate in China, especially red and gold. This is because yellow tones stand for balance in China. The wooden furniture, which is usually made of mango wood or elm wood, is also elaborately decorated. They are either painted or lacquered and additionally decorated with bronze and brass fittings.
Paper lanterns are also used in a typical Chinese restaurant. These are usually red and also decorated with calligraphy. These characters are very important and appear throughout the decoration. Porcelain vases are also frequently found here. They are also very artistically designed and use traditional symbols such as dragons, cranes or flowering branches in addition to calligraphy.
Alongside fish, dragons are particularly important animals in Chinese culture, as they bring good luck and protection. The fish, which are usually found in aquariums in the entrance area, also bring good luck and prosperity. This is because the pronunciation of the Chinese word for fish ("yù") sounds similar to the word for luck and prosperity (fùyù).
In addition to these popular establishments, you will also always find a Buddha statue. Those who prefer to order Asian food at home or prefer an Asian take-away will unfortunately not be able to enjoy the visual delights of this establishment.
Relaxed atmosphere - delicious food
However, it is not only important that guests feel comfortable in the restaurant and can enjoy the charm and ambience. After all, the Asian delicacies should also pamper customers' palates.
Many of our customers would like to order Asian food, but not all of them come to us in person. They then receive our freshly prepared dishes as home delivery. Rice, noodles, fresh vegetables, exotic spices and high-quality meat are prepared directly after ordering and delivered ready to eat.
Of course, Gigi Sushi not only offers culinary delicacies for home delivery, but also as take-away or to be eaten directly in our restaurant.
