Asian food

Asian food is very popular in Europe and especially here in Switzerland. This is because it is not only always fresh and delicious, but also extremely healthy. This is due to the careful selection of ingredients, the high quality of the food and the careful preparation of all dishes.

As an Asian restaurant, Gigi Sushi is representative of the three directions Japanese, Chinese and Thai. We are particularly well-known among our customers in Adliswil, Pfäffikon, Au, Hirzel, Horgen, Horgenberg, Richterwil, Samstagern and Wädenswil for our sushi specialties. However, there are many other interesting Asian cuisines.

Examples of the diversity of Asian cuisine

Just as there is not just one pan-European cuisine, there is not just one Asian cuisine in Asia either. It differs in the use of typical regional preparations, preferred specialties and flavors. Sometimes sweet and sour, sour and spicy or simply very hot and spicy for Western palates.

Chinese cuisine varies from region to region in the country, but is mostly mild and therefore also very popular in the west. Spicy food is only served in the south, mainly in Sichuan and Yunnan. The different varieties of chop suey are well-known and popular.

Japanese cuisine is known for its fish dishes, mainly sushi. Lots of healthy seafood and the low fat content are also very figure-friendly for gourmets.

Thai cuisine is quite spicy, but also differs greatly from region to region, just like Chinese cuisine. It is one of the most popular cuisines in the world and is famous for its Pad Thai or Thai Green Curry.

What else is Asian cuisine?

Even though Gigi Sushi has tailored its Asian food (in the delivery service, take-away and restaurant) to Japanese, Chinese and Thai cuisine, there are many other Asian cuisines:

  • Burmese cuisine, for example, which is typical of Myanmar, contains a lot of vegetables and uses a lot of oyster sauce.
  • Laotian cuisine is very similar, but in addition to vegetables, there are also sausages, soups and noodles.
  • Indian cuisine uses many pulses and is predominantly vegetarian.
  • Cambodian cuisine mainly consists of various rice dishes.
  • Korean cuisine uses a lot of rice, but also meat and vegetables.
  • Vietnamese cuisine is one of the healthiest in the world. It combines various influences from China, Thailand and India. It is rarely spicy and uses a lot of rice, rice noodles and vegetables. Historically, it is difficult for Western palates, as there are practically no taboos and insects are also on the menu.

Why is Asian cuisine so healthy?

Asian cuisine has a good reputation and rightly so. It is very varied and mainly uses lots of fresh vegetables, lean meat or fish. There is also healthy fiber from tofu or soy. Rice is also included everywhere and is very healthy. It is filling and also has a diuretic effect.

The preparation of the food is particularly easy to digest. Most of the food is simply steamed in a wok without adding any fat. Selected spices are added to stimulate digestion and fat burning in the body and are sometimes said to have healing properties.
